The New Jersey Reapportionment Commission has placed Matawan and Aberdeen into separate legislative districts for the rest of this decade. Based on the distribution, Democratic Aberdeen will likely remain under Frank Pallone's sway, while Republican Matawan has been absorbed into a strangely shaped district previously dominated by Chris Smith (R-NJ) but now challenged by a sizable population from Rush Holt (D-NJ)'s 12th district. Some of Holt's current municipalities have been used to reinforce Pallone's new district.
Until now, Aberdeen and Matawan were part of
Congressional District 6, which is currently represented by Frank Pallone (D-NJ). The heavily gerrymandered district reached from Plainfield to Long Branch.

For upcoming elections, Aberdeen will be part of a new Congressional District 13, consisting by population primarily of municipalities that were previously part of Congressional District 6, which is currently represented by
