Matawan-Aberdeen School Board Launches 2009-2010 Business

Liz Loud-Hayward and Joey Warren were officially seated on the school board on Monday 27 April 2009. The board met the next day and picked Dr Jeff Delaney to fill Cathy Zavorskas's vacant seat. An article on Joey's Aberdeener blog contains an interesting summary of the candidates to the board and provides great details about the questions asked and notable replies.

The Old Bridge school board is looking longingly at how our district controlled our school budget this year, according to an article in The Suburban, a newspaper that serves our neighbors in Old Bridge and Sayreville. Matthew Sulikowski, an incumbent who just won re-election in OB, said,"I feel the administration could have done a better job and came in with a minus budget. If the Aberdeen and Matawan school system, our neighbors, could do it, why can't we?"

Speaking of education, Ryan Oliviera recently graduated East Stroudsburg University. He majored in athletic training after taking a look at criminal justice, according to an article in the Pocono Record. [Note: The link brings up an annoying survey window that you can easily opt out of. Just say no thanks.]

Also, Chris Keller, of Matawan, will be appearing at the 2009 NEC Outdoor Track Championships to be held at Monmouth University today and tomorrow, according to MUHawks.
