All Mine to Give

I like stumbling on old movies with people I recognize from later movies and TV shows. This weekend, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) showed All Mine to Give, a 1957 flick about an ill-fated Scottish couple who emigrated to Wisconsin in 1850, established a farm, and raised a large family. I hadn't seen the movie before, but I recognized lots of the actors.

• The wife was Glynis Johns, who played Mrs Banks in Mary Poppins (1964).
• The husband was Cameron Mitchell, who had third billing in Carousel (1956), then played John Lackland on The Beachcomber (1962) and Buck Cannon on The High Chaparral (1967 - 1971).
• The husband's boss was Alan Hale, Jr, who played the Skipper in Gilligan's Island (1964 - 1967).
• The nice townswoman was Sylvia Field, who played Martha Wilson in the Dennis the Menace TV show (1959 - 1962).
• The annoying townswoman was Reta Shaw, a housekeeper in Mary Poppins and the TV show The Ghost and Mrs Muir (1968 - 1970). She was also in the Ann Sothern Show (1958), the Tab Hunter Show (1960), and Oh, Those Bells (1962).
• The eldest daughter was Patty McCormack, who was The Bad Seed (1956).
