ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP WATER DEPARTMENT ADVISES CUSTOMERS TO BOIL WATER PRIOR TO DRINKING (March 14, 2010)

Aberdeen Township water department, serving customers in CLIFFWOOD AND CLIFFWOOD BEACH is advising customers to boil water for a period of 1 minute, before drinking over the next 48 hours. Customers should boil their water for one minute for the following: drinking, cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets and all other consumption. Water does not have to be boiled for the following activities: showering, washing dishes or clothes. The MIDDLESEX treatment plant experienced minor flooding as a result of heavy rains from last nights storm which may have impacted the treatment process. While the Company awaits the results of tests taken on its water supply, it is recommending customers boil all water used for consumption purposes.

  1. I was just at Star Bucks this morning (Monday), and someone there said that MATAWAN was also supposed to boil their water. Something about flooding at Ravine Drive. I didn't see anything on the Borough web site or in the news. Can anyone verify this?

  2. Have you been down to the beach yet? Wow! Half of it has moved! The dune held up though, and probably saved the rest of the beach! Thank God they decided to restore it twenty odd years ago. I believe Rutger's was giving advice at one time about its maintenance. I wonder, should we get them to come and look at the beach ? There's been an awful lot of destruction, God help us if another storm comes this season!

  3. I know the warning stated 3/14-3/16, but the automated phone message indicated that residents would receive a call informing them of when the water is safe to drink. Is the water safe for consumption today 3/17?

  4. The township did its testing and found the water safe to drink, so the warning has been lifted. I received an automated call from the Water Department announcing the lifting of the warning today.
