Only One Incumbent Seeks Aberdeen Seat; 7 "Newcomers" So Far

The Democratic and Republican party slates for Aberdeen Township Council are set (see below) for the June 7th primaries, according to APP. The party candidates below will run unopposed in the primaries, but the Independents have until June to file to run in the General Election.

I hope the candidates provide bios, even if only to the local media. Here's what little I could find about them online.

Democrat
 Republicans
  • Kenneth Aitken, 65 Juniper Place; MARSD school board; engineer at AT&T
  • Sheilah Balavram, 109 Andover Lane; Republican candidate for Township Council in 2009; volunteer with Aberdeen Rescue Squad and active member of Temple Beth Ahm.
  • Debra Delaney, 804 Parva Place; her address is in the Midnight Point area of Cliffwood Beach.
  • Augustine "Gus" Toomey III, 8 Jordan Place; the 21 Nov 2001 edition of The Independent contains an unflattering letter about Mr Toomey and his departure from both the Town Council and the Democratic Party; he emerged as a Republican candidate in 2003, per 8 Oct 2003 Independent.
